How She Met Phil:
The two met after a show
at Old Orchard Beach, Maine on July 29, 1988. They went for pizza and stayed
until dawn. They would decide to marry in November. After putting off the
process, partly due to preparing for Rory's arrival, they wed July 13, 1989 in a
very private and informal ceremony. Fred Long was Phil's best man and Steve
Clark was Jacki's maid of honor!
Brief History:
Born on Fort Ord army base
in Monterey, California, Jacqueline spent her very early years in Orange County,
California. At nine her family moved to Colorado. "I grew up in Colorado, on a
small non-working ranch, outside of a very small town (Woodland Park)." Jacki
boarded horses, spent quality time in the woods and became a lifelong animal
lover in the company of dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, pet rats, hermit crabs,
horses, cows and many others.
Partly because of her height, 5'9" by the age of twelve, and avoidance of social cliques, Jacqueline recalls being "the most
unpopular kid in school. As a teenager and a preteen, I was always the outsider,
the misfit." Uninterested in acting, she nonetheless enjoyed singing in such
musicals as The King and I, The Wizard of Oz and My Fair Lady and also
participated in state choral competitions.
A short-term photographic memory helped
her to graduate as a junior, with straight A's, from Woodland Park High School. A full scholarship led her to
the University of Northern Colorado. Having worked for a veterinarian as a
teenager, she struggled between studying music and veterinary medicine. The
struggle was short; after one semester she found herself bored with the
curriculum and quit.
The awkward adolescent had, by now,
fully bloomed, and Jacki was soon discovered in Denver by a modeling scout and
whisked away to Paris a week later. Within a year her image could be found in
nearly every major French and German magazine. A broken heart led her to New
York, where she also appeared in Cosmopolitan, Elle, Mademoiselle, Glamour and
other leading publications.
Jacqueline gave up her modeling career
when she married Phil . A year after the couple welcomed Rory, she decided to
begin working again; acting seemed a natural progression. After studying at the
Lee Strasberg Studios in Los Angeles, she appeared in commercials for Miller,
Chic, Suave and other top advertisers. Her first role was a short film in New
York, but her public debut was a guest starring role on "Baywatch".
Jacq eventually gave up her acting career and focused her energy on her business endeavors.
She started an all natural bath and body business, Medieval, after her
frustration with the products available at the time. While that business began
to flourish serving celebrities like Shania Twain, Lucy Liu, and Camryn Manheim,
she also began Toadstool Farm Art. Jacqueline had been painting since her youth
and decided to share her beautiful portraits of Faereys.
As her art career advanced, Medieval closed. Meanwhile, her love of horses led her to training and breeding them. It appears that she's finally settled on Faereys and Horses for her career!
